Thomas Wiecek
President and Co-Founder
Driven by a lifelong passion for the sea, I’ve seamlessly transitioned from a 19-year career as a Miami Beach lifeguard to a yacht captain specializing in charters and vessel deliveries from the Great Lakes to South and Central America.
My journey has led me to serve distinguished clients, including presidents and vice presidents of Panama and Costa Rica.
Now retired, I am committed to preserving our oceans through the creation of a non-profit organization called ”Art of the Seas” specializing in preserving and building eco -friendly reef systems.
“Let's embark on a sustainable future together."

Lisa Heikka-Huber
Board Director
Lisa recently graduated from Cal Poly Humboldt with her BFA in Sculpture and Small Metals as well as a BA in Political Science emphasizing Global Environmental Politics. Additionally, she earned a minor in Art History, a Museum and Gallery Practices certificate, and her AAUS Scientific Diving certification. Lisa’s political interests focus specifically on water and ocean policy, related federal and state legislative initiatives, political ecology, and coastal marine protections and policy. Her focus on water sustainability grew deeper while earning her minor in scientific diving. Learning to dive off the frigid Northern California coast gave her a broader perspective to the need for more ecological research into the environmental degradation impacting this region. Additionally, the Cal Poly Humboldt Dive Program is where she met Ammathee and became avid diving buddies and friends. Prior to returning to school, Lisa ran a successful glass art company where she specialized n sculpting hollow glass, specifically horses and female forms. In 2010, she was nominated to become Event Director of the Female Flame Off, a charitable fundraiser for local nonprofits and glass art competition with over 50 participants during the annual two-day event.
Lisa plans to use her experience to make positive change in how society engages with the environment and understands mitigating degradation must start now and embody all aspects of our lives. Lisa continues her multidisciplinary art practice as a graduate student at San Jose State University where she is in her second year of her MFA in Spatial Art, as well as a concurrently enrolled graduate student at Cal Poly Humboldt where she is working to earn her MA in Social Sciences of Environment and Community. In addition, Lisa recently joined the crew member internship at USC’s Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber. Lisa’s home and studio are in Arcata, CA. She is currently pursuing a certificate in Maritime Anthropology as well that will help round out her diving experience coupled with her AAUS certification. These credentials and more are what make her a valuable asset to add to the board of directors for Art of the Seas and informs her role as our art and policy consultant.

Ash Wiecek
Board Secretary and Administrator
Ash Wiecek is an educator, homesteader, local and slow food entrepreneur, horticulturist, herbalist, and non-profit administrator. Life forever changed for her in 2011 when her son was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition that was healed through supporting his body with proper nutrition rather than conventional medical treatment. From this point on, her priorities changed and grew into educating others on how food, plants, and the organic microcosm around us can be natural medicine to support them in their journey through life as well. Her passions include connecting other humans, especially tiny humans, with the natural world around us. As an educator working with several non-profit organizations, she loves teaching others to grow, produce, and process food and plant medicine in relation to their nutrition and overall health/lifestyle. She thoroughly enjoys working with people to build strong relationships with themselves and others through nature and community. Her current projects include the administration of the Art of the Seas nonprofit organization, designing, building, and operating community garden and permaculture spaces, teaching homesteading classes, and her new start-up herbalism apothecary: Full Circle Botanicals. She lives, works, and thrives with her family in an off-grid homestead nestled in the woods of Central Texas.
